There had been rumors of a dragon making its way to Walt Disney World for some time. Though it was unconfirmed most sources thought it would probably head towards New Fantasyland, what with all the princesses and castles and such. Everyone knows dragons love those things!
Well the rumors have been confirmed! A dragon did indeed make an appearance at the Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately it flew over on December 5th, 2012 at a VIP only event and Disney is not releasing any details of when or if it will make another appearance.
The only good news is that the entire search for the dragon has been chronicled on video. So take a look for yourself at what may be the origins of the beast, the search for the beast and what we hope (really, really hope!) will be the first of many appearances. Read the rest of this entry
From the official Disney Park’s Blog:
We’re happy to share here on the Disney Parks Blog today that a new interactive quest called A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas will debut in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park this spring. (And check out this great artist rendering that our friends at Walt Disney Imagineering just shared with us!)
In A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas, guests will use a pirate map and magic talisman to help them complete five different pirate raids throughout Read the rest of this entry
Most of us were not excpecting a Dragon to fly over Cinderella Castle at Watl Disney World’s Magic Kingdom as part of the festivities surrounding the December 6th grand opening of the New Fantasyland. Unless you had been hiding under a rock you had heard about the new castles being built and the new rides but you had to be a true Disney nerd to even suspect a dragon might invade the Magic Kingdom.
But as you can see from this video it did!
Haven’t made it to the new Fantasyland yet? Neither have I. So obviously we are both left out of the new Under The Sea~The Voyage Of The Little Mermaid. But that doesn’t mean we can’t see Ariel’s story at all does it? Check out the video below.
I have never been to Disneyland and this blog has always been about Disney World but this video is just too cute. Check it out.
Last year there was a nasty rumor that the Festival of the Lion King was going to be closed in January 2013 to make way for the Pandora, aka Avatar, expansion. While a temporary shutdown would be bad enough many festival enthusiasts feared it would be a temporay closing similar to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage which closed for a temporary renovation in 1994 never to reopen.
Well the latest rumors are good news for Festival fans. The cast has signed a new long term contract and a new location for the show has been found. Not only does that mean the show will not permanently be closed it is a good indication it will not be closed at all. The show will stay in Camp Minnie-Mickey, it’s current home, until the new location is ready.
The new location actually makes more sense. According to sources the show will be located in Harambe Village behind Tusker House. Given that the show is all about Africa that makes a lot more sense than Camp Minnie-Mickey.
This is all just rumor for the moment though so do not be surprised if things do not work out this way.
Of course all this moving is necessary, if it happens, because the rumored location of Pandora is the current location of Camp-Minnie Mickey.
Any one who has been to Camp Minnie-Mickey can understand quickly why it is the prime location for some expansion love. There is nothing there but the Festival of the Lion King and some character meet and greets.
Grumpy is hoping this rumor is one of the true ones. Festival of the Lion King is the best show in Disney property, in my grumpy opinion. The last time I was there I saw it at least twice and I still love it.
